Marcus Pierno Albie Goat Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary
Albie II
Charcoal and White Conte Crayon on Toned Paper
13.5"x17.5"
2014

Albie's origins are uncertain. He was found in a horrible state near Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Apparently Albie had somehow managed to escape from being hogtied. Although the multiple injuries he had sustained were successfully treated, his front left leg below the knee could not be saved. Regardless of this handicap, Albie now exists happily in the loving care of Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary in Willow, NY. He is named after Albert Schweitzer, the Nobel Prize winner who said "Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace".
