Attended Fashion Institute of Technology where he spent a year in the Fine Arts program and earned an AAS in Illustration. In the summer of 1999, Marcus Pierno studied art in Florence, Italy.
He received additional training at The Art Students League of New York where he studied under Oldrich Teply.
In 2005, he won a scholarship to The National Academy of Fine Arts where he studied extensively under Dan Gheno.
His painting Two Sugars was selected as part of annual group exhibition of National Academy students in The Cork Gallery at Lincoln Center.
Entered the Art History BA program at Hunter College.
In 2007, he began working as a commercial illustrator for Outlines, Inc.
In 2010, five paintings were selected by the Upstream People Gallery as part of the 11th Annual Realism Online International Art Exhibition. Nook and your Farewell Came Too Late received Special Recognition Merit Awards.
In the summer of 2010, Central Islip Public Library held a one-man exhibition of 16 paintings.
Influences: John Singer Sargent, Joaquin Sorolla, James A.M. Whistler, Anders Zorn, Ilya Repin, Valentin Serov, Isaac Levitan, Alphonse M. Deneuville, Romaine Brooks, Howard Pyle, Harvey Dunn, Andrew Wyeth, Henry Ossawa Tanner, Nicolai Fechin, and George Bellows among many others.
Marcus Piernos work resides in various private collections around the country. He lives and paints in New York City.
